Private sector can make a difference on all levels of women’s economic empowerment and in promoting gender equality. Hence, Women Act has initiated a campaign called Private Sector Partnerships for Gender Equality. The aim of the campaign is to engage and involve private sector for the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment. This campaign has following two components: (1) Policy Advocacy at National Level with an aim to create a legislative environment/framework to engage and involve private sector for the promotion of gender equality and women’s economic empowerment through a series of policy dialogue forums, national conference, panel discussions and seminars with national stakeholders such as Nepal Bankers’ Association (NBA), Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Nepal Chambers of Commerce, Nepal Rastra Bank and other government and private sector actors, and (2) Community-based Livelihoods Support Project for Disaster Affected and Vulnerable Women with the objective to create economic choices for rural and marginalized women and disaster affected women-headed households through a combination of efforts and help to diversify their income generating activities.
